Staffing Update

They say there's some dough to be made coming to teach here north of the Arctic Circle. Hmmm. Naaah. HF1

Funny Photo 3: Fenway Park

Whoa! An old-fashioned bench clearing brawl broke out at Fenway between the Rays and Sox today. Here Rays' pitcher James Shields whiffs while trying to pop Boston's CoCo Crisp (Yes, that's his name). Crisp attempted to take out the Rays' 2nd baseman the previous evening with an obnoxious slide. Shields popped Crisp today with a curveball and the rest is history. The events didn't change things for the Rays, who dropped their sixth game at Fenway this year and gave first place in the AL East back to the Red Sox. HF1

Funny Photo(s) 2: 70s Night at the Trop

Last Saturday I took in a Tampa Bay Rays game at Tropicana Field over in St. Pete. Little did I know that after the Rays' 11-4 drubbing of the Orioles, that 70s Night would conclude with a concert with 70s legends The Commodores. The Rays' tech staff had fun as they "photo-shopped" (there's a new millennium word) the players' usual scoreboard photos. I could've posted a dozen more, but here are three good ones. HF1

Funny Photo #1 for 2008

I spied this marquee Sunday evening enroute to southern Illinois. This Hardees in El Paso, IL along I-39 appears desperate for fowl employees and spellchecker. When you head south, patronize the nice folks at the El Paso Shell. HF1

Funny Photo Series

Occasionally I will see an opportunity for what I consider a humorous photo. It's guaranteed to match my sense of humor, which is corny. I started this in '07 and am beginning anew for '08. Please abide my impertinence. HF1

Funny Photo 6: Pinellas Park

Some people like NASCAR. My friend John likes Champ Car. My friend Hugh races a 911 at Road America. And the retired folks here in Florida evidently like Greyhounds. I suppose they can all fit on one bus and race to the ultimate frozen yogurt shop together. Here's to pastels and crowded commissaries! HF1

Funny Photo 5: St. Petersburg P.D.

Well, your mother DID always tell you to brush your teeth and use mouthwash before going to school! Altoid anyone? This is one tough police department! Mrs. Landry can add this to her hygiene state standards! HF1

Funny Photo 4: Deviled Rays

The local free tabloid, "Tampa Bay Times" is a bit edgy and their sports page displayed a great bit of sarcasm today after the Yankees scored three touchdowns, rolled up 500 yards of offense, and held the D-Rays to two safeties in a 21-4 romp on Sunday. (click to enlarge) HF1

Funny Photo 2: Tropicana Field

Try and do that TWICE! I went to Sunday's Dodger-Devil Ray game and finally witnessed a Tampa Bay victory (1-3 with me in da house, JAAAH!). Sitting in the right field stands, I saw Dodger Luis Gonzales' two-run homer impact about 30 yards to my right. Little did I know until I read the next day's paper that he dropped it into the Rays' Tank. 30 cownose rays grace right-center field where kids can go touch them. They claim it's the first impact in the 10 year history here. Gonzales retained Dave Winfield's attorney to address certain imminent animal abuse litigation. HF1

Funny Photo 1: St. Petersburg

I find quite a few interesting sights as I make my way around the Tampa/St. Pete area. Here's an alleyway near Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. I tried to find a geocache before game time a few weeks back. I switched the iPod to Sgt. Pepper's immediately afterward! HF1
